Deferred Maintenance Budget
Summary
Deferred Maintenance is a special program created by the State. Based upon an approved five year plan, the State provides matching funds up to 1/2 of 1% of the General and Adult Fund budgets. The State has almost always deficit funded this program, but the recent commitment appears to be strong. The requirements for the projects in the five year plan are consistent with requirements for bond funded projects. Providing the District match from BUSD’s bond proceeds allows the District to do more capital improvement work.
The first two matching payments were shown as expenses to the Measure A bond. The capital improvement expenditures were reported separately. Reporting of the Deferred Maintenance Fund was combined with the other capital Funds beginning in February 1995. The future revenues are now reported as income.
Payments
The first two matching payments were from the Measure A bond funds. The District will continue to receive funds from the State and will continue to utilize the bond to serve as our match. Future expenses will be reported as specific project expenditures.
